Passport-El Sueño

ELSUEÑO_POSTERWe spoke with Bryan Thompson of IMANI Films and Nury Mojica about the Film El Sueño.

El Sueño is a narrative film, which illustrates the importance of Comprehensive Immigration Reform as it follows the story of Raul, a young immigrant brought to the U.S. as a child.  Raul and another young immigrant, Alejandra, are orphaned when anti-immigrant civilians posted on the US-Mexico border murder their parents.

“El Sueño” will be a catalyst for change, helping to provoke the ongoing dialogue that leads to Comprehensive Immigration Reform.  The film hopes to educate viewers about the distinction between D.A.C.A. (a temporary deferment of legal action again certain undocumented immigrants, which is granted on a case-by-case basis) and the proposed The DREAM Act legislation, which must be passed by Congress to become law and would actually provide a path to legal and permanent citizenship.
